Ailnavians

Ailnavians are anthropomorphic bird creatures common on the Ailnaia Archipelago.

Achromia

« To lose one's colour is to lose one's soul. »

'a' meaning 'not' or 'without'; 'chrome' meaning 'colour'.

Achromia is a state of low to no emotion. Those afflicted lose all colour in their body except a desaturated hint of their eye colour, turning a stark black and white. They tend to wear a listless expression.
This can be caused suddenly by a strong surge of emotion – almost like a circuit shorting – or it can happen slowly over time.

Hyperchromia

« All things in moderation. »

'hyper' meaning 'in excess'; 'chrome' meaning 'colour'.

Hyperchromia is a state of overwhelmingly high emotion. Those afflicted exhibit an eye-strainingly bright palette and – most often – extreme distress. While it's possible to have hyperchromia with a positive emotion, it's most associated with anxiety attacks and similar mental duress.
While most are only afflicted for short periods, chronic hyperchromia can still exist in one who is often overcome by 'bursts' of hyperchromia.
