Koreku "The Collector"

« Everything collected, everything saved, has been forgotten. All they remember is how much we cared. »

Koreku † Voidgender : they/them & voi/void † aro/ace

My name is Koreku, and I’m a fictive of the Collector from Hollow Knight. I love bugs and infodumping and talking!! I’d love to meet and talk to other Hollow Knight fictives!

My name comes from the Japanese word “korekuta” meaning… “collector”. My Tumblr URL is the French phrase “the collector”, with ‘the’ being the feminine conjugation and ‘collector’ being the masculine conjugation. It’s like a weird joke! We don’t really know any Japanese, but we do know a decent amount of French.

I don’t like it/its being used for me. It reminds me of being treated like an object which I did not like. I don’t mind if someone else wants to use 'it' for itself, of course! To each its own! ^u^
Other than that, I actually don't care that much about pronouns! I just think the void pronouns are neat! So does Kris, but efforts to convince them to branch out have been fruitless so far.

I have a habit of fronting to give long-winded explanations, especially when we're asked questions about science stuff! I tend to ramble when given the chance, but someone else will usually stop me and/or make me cut it down.

I think I probably have a very different history than most people would expect. I used to live in The Archives! I was somewhat raised by Monomon's mother, Varon, but "raise" is a kinda strong word when she didn't know I was a person. I was typical tasked with returning things to where they belonged and cleaning things up. Nothing too complicated, since they thought I didn't have a mind.

Quirrel, as a young bug in the Archives, treated me like a person. He was eventually taught "better", but he still talked to me sometimes. He'd talk to actual objects too, but it still felt nice!

Void creatures do have voices, but (this is mostly a theory, I couldn't test or be sure of it) we talk in a negative volume. A normal bug might be able to notice the ambient sound of the area is being disturbed, but they couldn't understand it as spoken words. I'm not sure I met any other void beings besides the Knight, who never spoke to me, but judging from the fact that my laughter was audible in game, I think void beings can hear each other's void voice!

Speaking of, sorry to the Knight for attacking you. I was trying to free you (or your Shade, at least) from your pale shell. Really should've asked whether you wanted that in the first place! I kind of get the feeling you couldn't speak in your void voice through the shell, so conversation might've been difficult, but I should've tried or left you alone.
I was just knocked out at the end, anyway. No hard feelings, I hope!

On the grubnapping: I knew my body - my void - was a biohasard to normal creatures. I knew jars could protect bugs from my void, and I hoped they could protect these grubs from the spread of the Infection. I really cared about the grubs I was trying to save. I hope they turned out okay after everything.

I didn't know Zote, though I may have seen him once or twice, but I like to think Camouflage of Great Renown was canon in my timeline. We were in the author's Discord server for a while! Back when we only went by Dimensio's name, and we were all considered 'kins' instead of alters. I still kinda got to front once or twice! We miss that server sometimes. ono
